AI Assistant

AI Assistant is a generative artificial intelligent tool that is embedded within NVivo to enhance your data analysis. Lumivero has an Enterprise Agreement with OpenAi which explicitly states that no data uploaded from NVivo will be used for training purposes. In addition, as part of the zero data retention policy, any data that is uploaded will be immediately deleted from Open.ai servers once it completes the requested operation. Using AI assistant, you can leverage coding suggestions and summarize texts or documents. AI Assistant options can be accessed from the following locations in NVivo:

NOTE  The AI assistant option will be greyed out when you are logged out of NVivo.

  • From the top ribbon, select Home -> AI Assistant:

  • From the Detail View toolbar:

  • From the context menu:

    • Using the AI Assistant: Summarize text option, you can select the required text in a document and automatically summarize the selected text in the preferred language and length. The summarized texts may be saved as annotations. For more information, see AI Assistant: Summarize Text.

    • Using the AI Assistant: Summarize Document(s) option, you can select one or more items such as audio, video, and PDF document and automatically generate a summary for each selected item which can be stored as linked memos. You also have the option to select preferred summary language and length. For more information, see AI Assistant: Summarize.

    • Using the AI Assistant: Suggest Child Codes option, you can select a code and generate child codes based on the coded content. For more information, see AI Assistant: Suggest Child Codes.

    • Using the AI Assistant: Summarize Coded Content option, you can automatically generate AI summaries from the coded content in the selected matrix cell(s). For more information, see AI Assistant: Summarize Coded Content.

Disable AI Features

Disable Via Registry Key

Administrators can disable AI features by setting the following string value:

  • Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QSR\NV\15\AI\

  • Value Name: AIFeaturesDisabled

  • Value Data: True
