Print project items

You can print project items, including:

  • Files
  • Codes
  • Maps
  • Charts and diagrams
  • Formatted reports

You can also print lists in the List or Detail Views, for example:

  • A list of files in the List View
  • The members of a set displayed in the List View
  • Query results displayed in the Detail View
  • Project event log entries displayed in the Detail View

IMPORTANT  NVivo uses your computer's default printer settings to format content for display in NVivo. Ensure that you have a default printer set (it need not be a physical printer—if you don't have one installed use Microsoft XPS Document Writer).

Print a project item

  1. Click on the item in the List or Detail View.
  2. On the Sharetab, click Print > Print.
    Keyboard Shortcut To display the Print Options dialog box, press CTRL+P.
  3. Select the required print options.
  4. Click OK.

NOTE

  • When you print a file or code from the Detail View and coding stripes are displayed, you can choose to print the coding stripes.
  • When you print audio and video files, the media item is represented by the timeline.

Print a list

  1. Click in the list you want to print, either in the List or Detail View.
  2. On the Share tab, click Print > Print List.
  3. Click OK.

Change paper size, orientation & margins

You can set your print preferences for the file (document, dataset, memo or external) or code in the Detail View. You can also set print preferences for visualizations displayed in the Detail View (charts, hierarchy charts or cluster analysis diagrams).

  1. Open the item you want to print in the Detail View.
  2. Turn on edit mode (does not apply to datasets).
  3. On the Share tab, click Print > Page Setup.
  4. Set your preferences for paper size, page orientation and margins.
  5. Click OK.

Print preview

You can use Print Preview to review layout or format of pages before printing.

  1. Click on the item in the List or Detail Views.
  2. On the Share tab, click Print > Print Preview.
    You can review the printed output, using the navigation and zoom commands on Print Preview toolbar.

NOTE  To change the paper size and orientation, click Page Setup on the File menu in the Print Preview window.
