Export project

You can select specific items in a project (or keep all items) to export to a new project in Windows, Mac, or REFI-QDA format.

Export selected items to a new project

  1. Open the project that contains the items you want to export.
  2. On the Share tab, click Export Project.
  3. Select the format you want to export to: NVivo Release 1 (Windows or Mac), , or REFI-QDA, and set the location and file name for the exported file.
  4. In the Export section, click Select to select the items to export Select project items.
Note: this option is not available for export to REFI-QDA format—the entire project must be exported (with the exception of unsupported features REFI-QDA Standard.

TIP   For an NVivo Collaboration Server project, select the server name from the Connection name field, and enter a name in Project name.

  5. (Optional) Select Include related data to include annotations, see-also links and other related data.
  6. Click OK.

Export of large projects may take a few minutes. Export to Mac format (.nvpx) takes longer because the project format is also converted— monitor progress in the NVivo Status bar at the bottom of the window.

NOTE

  • To export to Mac format (.nvpx) you need a project converter. If not already installed, it is automatically downloaded and installed.
  • If you cannot select NVivo Release 1 Windows or Mac as the export format, check your connections. You need a standalone connection to create a new project on your computer.
