Project properties

Set a range of properties for the current project. You can set options and preferences for the current project with NVivo. Project properties are 'project specific'— any set preferences are set only for the current project.

NOTE  Many of the settings in the Project Properties dialog box are set when you create a project—see Create a new project

View or change project properties

  1. Launch the required NVivo project.

  2. Click File > Info > Project Properties to open the Project Properties dialog box.

  3. Choose a tab to view or change the preferences.

Description

Title

 Project name or title of the project.

Description

 Summary of the current project.

File name

 Project file name with the location path.

Text content language

The text content language is used when you run Text Search queries or Word Frequency Queries. It is also used for spell checking and pattern-based autocoding. Select the text content language that matches the language of your files. If the language used in your files is not available as a text content language, then you should select Other. Text content language & stop words

Stop Words...

You can view the stop words associated with each language, and you can customize the stop words by adding or removing words from the stop word list.

Write user actions to project event log

The event log contains the name, location, event, details, and user information.

Created on/Modified on

Timestamp of the project creation and modification date with the user initials.

NVivo automatically saves your project updates when set to Yes.

Display save reminders every

You can set the reminder alert for a specific interval in minutes.

Create recovery files

You can set to run the file recovery for the following time intervals:

  • Never

  • Every thirty minutes

  • Every hour

  • Every four hour

Store the most recent files

 You can set the number of project recovery files to back up automatically.

Recovery file location

You can browse and set a location to store the recovered files.

 You can set custom labels for the "Not Applicable" attribute value labels.

"Associated" relationship type label

 You can set custom labels for the "Associated" relationship type label.

You can reset to apply default labels.

Read/Write Password

 You can set read/write passwords including password hint. Once you set a password, users will be prompted for the password every time the project is accessed and they will be able to edit the project.

Read Only Password

 You can set read only passwords including password hint. Once you set a password, users will be prompted for the password every time the project is accessed and they can only access the project in read only mode.

 Set a name for the paragraph style.

Text

 You can set custom font, size, color, and whether it should be bold, italics, or underlined.

New Style

Create your own custom style.

Reset Style

 Reset the selected paragraph style to its default setting. You cannot reset custom paragraph styles.

Reset Styles

Reset all system-defined paragraph styles to default settings for font, size, color, bold, italic and underline.

Embed media in project if file size less than xx MB

Select this option if you want to automatically embed media files in your projects. By default, media files less than 20MB are embedded.

The maximum size for embedded media files is:

  • 40MB - standalone projects

Custom Transcript Fields

When you add custom fields, they are added to all audio/video transcripts in the project. For more information, see Add custom fields to transcripts.

  • Audio/video tab - You can create new custom field for Audio or video files, the newly added field(s) will be displayed in all the audio and video files in the project.
