Links
There are several different ways to create links between items in your project.
Memo links
To comment on issues that arise from a file, code or external, you can link to a memo.
Each file, code or external can have one memo linked to it. The memo can only be linked to that item. You can also create memos not linked to any item.
-
Select a file, code or external in the List View.
-
Open the context menu and click Memo Link / Link to New Memo.
-
Enter a memo name and optionally, description, in the Memo Properties dialog box.
The new memo opens in the Detail View for you to write your notes.
Hyperlinks
Add hyperlinks in documents, memos and externals to link to web pages or files outside of your project. Hyperlinks are displayed with a blue underline.
Although you cannot add hyperlinks to PDF or dataset files, these file types may contain hyperlinks. You can follow a hyperlink to navigate to content elsewhere in a PDF or to external locations such as web pages.
- In the Detail View, turn on edit mode for the file you want to add the hyperlink to.
- Select the content you want to link from.
- In the Create menu, click Hyperlink > New Hyperlink.
NOTE If a link is used in many files, it is recommended that you create one external to represent the website or file and then link to the external from your files—this way if a hyperlink becomes invalid, you need only update it in one location.
