Work with crosstab query results
Apply shading to cells to show trends or patterns
- On the Table
tab of the options panel, in the Heat map
group, select the shading that you want to display in the matrix.
The colors at the top of the thumbnail are applied to the highest numbers, the colors at the bottom of the thumbnail are applied to the lowest numbers.
- Click Clear Heatmap to remove cell shading.
Change the content of crosstab cells
On the Data tab of the options panel, in the Show results as group, select one of the options listed below:
- Cases Coded Displays the number of cases with selected attribute values that are coded to the intersecting node. Use this to answer questions like How many females talked about development?
- Files Coded Displays the number of files with selected attribute values that are coded to the intersecting node. Use this to see the patterns of different themes occurring in your files in different years.
- Coding References Displays the number of references coded at cases (or files) with selected attribute values and the intersecting node. Use this to answer questions like How often did women mention community?
- Coding Presence Displays whether there is coding at cases (or files) with selected attribute values and the intersecting nodes. When you select this, the cells display Yes or No.
These options will vary depending on whether you selected a case classification or file classification when defining the query.
Change the value of crosstab cells
To change the content of cells in a crosstab table—on the Data tab of the options panel, in the Show cell values group, select one of the options listed below:
- Count Displays a count of the cell content.
- Column Percentage Displays a percentage of the total value of the column.
- Row Percentage Displays a percentage of the total value of the row.
Transpose the columns and rows
You can rearrange the columns and rows in a crosstab—this can be useful if the table is too wide to display in Detail View.
- On the Table tab of the options panel, click Transpose.
